What a Morocco trek really costs: included, excluded

Published 7 October 2026

Two "8-day Toubkal" treks €400 apart usually hide no scam — they hide different inclusion lists. Here is how to read a price.

What a serious price includes

  • A certified guide, declared and paid at the valley rate.
  • Muleteers and mules — your bags don't walk themselves.
  • Nights: gîtes, refuge, camps — named, not "accommodation".
  • Trek meals, Marrakech–valley transfers where stated.

What is never included

  • Your international flights. Ever. Distrust any price claiming otherwise.
  • Travel insurance with mountain rescue — required, but yours.
  • Tips, drinks, personal extras.

On every TIZI trip, the included / not-included list is published line by line. If a line is missing, ask — a good agency answers precisely.

The three questions that separate prices

  • The price is based on how many travellers? (Two, on our listings.)
  • Deposit and balance: how much, when, how?
  • What happens if weather closes the summit?

What a low price doesn't say

A rate well under the market is paid somewhere else: an underpaid muleteer, a mule worked on two trips back to back, a group over the cap, a guide subcontracted the night before. Those are exactly the things that get an agency removed from our listings — our criteria.

And our cut? 0% commission on your trek — the agreed price goes to the agency: our model. The full sequence: how it works.
